GUIDELINES FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Required Actions Prior to Arrival in Russia
- Your passport must be valid for at least 18 months from your date of entry
into the Russian Federation. The passport must contain at least two blank consecutive pages (two facing pages) for visa issuance and border control stamps. - You must prepare your academic credentials and, if applicable, obtain the necessary legalization or apostille. The original diplomas and their academic transcripts
must be brought with you. - To enter Russia, you must obtain a single-entry student visa
from a Russian consulate abroad. - Visa-exempt foreign citizens must register via the “Госуслуги RuID”
(“Gosuslugi RuID”) mobile application. The entry form must be submitted
no earlier than 90 days and no later than 72 hours prior to arrival. - Prior to your departure, you must email the International Students Office
to confirm your arrival date and attach a copy of your travel ticket.
Entry into Russia for Studies at the Institute
- Upon entering the Russian Federation, foreign citizens and stateless persons
are to obtain and complete a migration card. Kindly ensure that the specified purpose
of your travel on the migration card is stated as follows: “Учёба” (“Studies”). - Upon entry, your student visa must be valid for at least 45 days to allow sufficient time for its extension.
Post-Arrival Steps
- No later than the next working day following your arrival in the Russian Federation, you must submit your documents to the International Students Office to secure
your migration registration at your place of residence. Please note that your registration automatically expires if you travel abroad or change your place of residence,
requiring you to re-register upon your return or relocation - Students who do not reside in the Institute’s dormitory are responsible
for completing their own migration registration within the legally prescribed timeframe (within 7 days of arrival) and must independently manage all future registration prolongations. - Every international student must hold a valid medical insurance policy covering
the Russian Federation. If you do not have one, you must purchase a policy immediately
upon arrival. You are also required to renew your health insurance policy
prior to its expiration date. - Within 90 days of your entry date, you must undergo a mandatory medical examination and biometric fingerprint registration. Kindly note that the medical examination must be renewed annually within one month of the expiration of your previous medical certificate.
- You must prepare and submit your documents for visa extension
no later than 45 days prior to its expiration date. A student visa can be extended
for a maximum duration of one year per prolongation. - Citizens of visa-free countries must prepare and submit their documents
for the extension of their migration card validity no later than 30 days
prior to its expiration date.
Staying in Russia
- International citizens arriving to study at the Pushkin Institute are strictly required
to comply with the migration legislation of the Russian Federation. - Institute students must adhere to the Institute’s internal regulations as well
as the housing rules of the Institute’s dormitory. - Attendance at all academic classes is mandatory. In the event of an excused absence, students must notify the Academic Affairs Department and provide valid justification.
- If traveling to another city or abroad, students must notify the Institute’s
Academic Affairs Department and the International Student Office either in person
or by email no later than 3 days prior to departure. - In the event of the termination of enrollment at the Institute, the student is required
to leave Russia within 3 days from the official date of the expulsion decree
(and within the validity period of the visa). - In the event of the loss of any official documents (passport, migration registration,
or medical certificate), the student must report the incident to the International Student Office no later than the working day following the discovery of the loss. - International citizens enrolled in higher education programs (Bachelor’s, Master’s,
or Postgraduate/PhD programs) are permitted to work during their free time outside
of academic hours. Conversely, international citizens enrolled in continuing education
or supplementary programs do not have the right to work in Russia for the duration
of their studies in these programs.
