How to Apply to Pushkin State Russian Language Institute in 2026?

The legislation of the Russian Federation allows certain categories of foreign citizens to study in higher education programs at the expense of the federal budget of the Russian Federation, i.e., free of charge.

Procedure for Enrollment Through the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Without Entrance Exams

Foreign citizens who are admitted to study at the expense of the Russian federal budget are enrolled at the Institute through nominations from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation without entrance exams. The enrollment deadlines for such citizens are determined by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in agreement with the Institute.

Provision of Scholarships

The distribution of state scholarships is handled by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

For Contract

Foreign citizens applying to the Institute under contracts for paid educational services must fill out and submit an application for admission within the established deadline.

Entrance Examinations

When admitting foreign citizens and stateless persons to bachelor’s degree programs for places under contracts for paid educational services, the Institute conducts entrance examinations in the form of an exam.

List of Documents Required for Admission

When submitting documents for admission to a program of study, a foreign citizen or stateless person shall indicate in their application the details of an identity document, or a document certifying the identity of a foreign citizen in the Russian Federation or the identity of a stateless person in the Russian Federation in accordance with Article 10 of Federal Law №. 115-FZ of July 25, 2002 “On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation” (hereinafter – a document certifying the identity of a foreign citizen), and shall submit, in accordance with subclause 1 of clause 68 of the Admission Procedure, an original or copy of the document certifying identity and citizenship, or a document certifying the identity of a foreign citizen.

Foreign citizens who are admitted to study on the basis of international treaties shall submit, in addition to the documents specified in clause 68 of the Admission Procedure, documents confirming that they fall within the categories of persons specified in the relevant international treaties.

When applying for admission in accordance with Article 17 of Federal Law №. 99-FZ, the relevant applicant shall submit, in addition to the documents specified in clause 68 of the Admission Procedure, originals or copies of the documents provided for in Article 17 of Federal Law №. 99-FZ.

When Submitting Documents, Foreign Citizens Must Provide the Following Documents:

Identity Document

A scanned copy of the page of the identity document of the candidate, recognized by the Russian Federation as such, containing a photograph and personal data (in *.JPEG format) for the purpose of issuing an invitation to enter the Russian Federation. The document must be valid for no less than 1 year and 6 months from the date of entry into the Russian Federation.

Diploma

Education Document*

A copy of the education document indicating the subjects studied and the grades (scores) received, along with its supplement, with a notarized translation of these documents into Russian.

*If the education document cannot be obtained before the application deadline, a document with a notarized translation into Russian must be attached, containing information on the level of education and grades for the last six months, as well as the expected date of receiving the education document (the original or a certified copy of the education document must be submitted after it is obtained).

School students must submit a certificate of enrollment in their final year of school, with grades for the last six months.

Visa Support

Candidates from visa countries must obtain a visa at the consular section of the Russian Embassy using the Institute’s invitation and arrive at the Institute by the beginning of the academic year.

Upon arrival at the Institute, the applicant must provide the documents listed above. Please, ensure that the FIRST AND LAST NAME of the foreign citizen in all documents translated into Russian must match exactly as it appears in the ENTRY VISA to the Russian Federation.
